Hung out in Hanoi

We had an unconventional visit to this great northern city. Arriving off the train at 5am meant we were too early to check in to our guesthouse, so alternative plans were made. Cue a 7am screening of Finding Dory (whole place to ourselves unsurprisingly), a resounding victory for Ali in the first McGhee vs. Linton bowling competition and some fun and games at the arcade.

We also got round to the important bit….street food! Hanoi has some of the most amazing street food, no matter what time of day. It turns out that Banh Cuon, the dish we first had for dinner on Cat Ba island, is actually a breakfast dish. The old couple round the corner had us feeling like locals every time we ate, despite neither party knowing each other’s language beyond a simple greeting. Beyond breakfast there is a world of tasty treats just waiting to be sampled. If in doubt, take a street food tour…you wont regret it!
