Lounged about in Lan Ha Bay

A quieter, more secluded section of Ha Long Bay, this was the ideal place for another days paddling. Here we found amazing a series of picture perfect lagoons, filled with bright blue water and teaming with the sounds of nature. Great limestone lumps rose from the sea, looming over our little craft and the floating villages hidden in the labyrinth of waterways. A huge thank you to Maiju and the team at Asia Outdoors for such an incredible experience.

That night we stayed on Cat Ba island, sampling some of the wonderful food, sights and sounds on offer. We also had our first experience with one of the tastiest dishes of our trip, banh cuon, but more of this later. Our hotel owner even showed us a nifty way to flash fry your squid, who knew lighter fluid was such a good cooking agent. We wished we could have stayed longer and experienced the climbing, SUP, boat cruises and deep water soloing adventures it offers…maybe next time.
