This really was one of those places you have to see to believe. Both of us had been excited to visit Angkor since the start of our travels, and our expectations were well exceeded. The sheer scale of the archeological park at Angkor is unlike anywhere else we have visited. Spread out across hundreds of kilometres, these ancient temples give you a glimpse at the incredible civilisation that once thrived here.
Each temple is unique with its own story, significance and feel. They are a feast for the imagination. Creeping through collapsed archways, stood in the middle of grand squares, wandering through maze like corridors, scaling giant steps or just tucking ourselves away in a corner and drinking it all in.
To attempt to do all of them in one day would be suicide. A combination of heat, temple fatigue, more heat opening hours, distance and even more heat mean its better to take your time.
